在生物體的生命活動過程中,細胞內的各部位之間、細胞之間,以及細胞與外界環境之間時刻都有物質、能量和信息的交流,使生命過程得以協調有序地進行,而這是由生物膜實現的。其中,信息交流是zui重要的。
細胞的信息傳遞,也叫細胞通信。狹義地講,它指一個細胞發出的信號分子通過介質傳導到另一個細胞并產生相應的效應。而廣義地講,則還應包括細胞與外界環境的信息交流。
生物信息的交流是通過具體的物質來完成的,這些承載有關“信息”的物質即謂之信號(分子),一般都是些化學物質。生物膜控制著信號的發生與傳遞。細胞的化學信號分子的溶解不同,有親脂性和親水性之分,其中多為親水性的。親脂性信號分子的主要代表有類同醇激素和甲狀腺素,它們可穿過細胞質膜進入細胞,與細胞質或細胞核中的相關受體結合形成復合物以調節諸如基因表達等生命活動,親水性信號分子則主要包括神經遞質、生化因子、化學遞質及大多數激素。它們雖不能穿過細胞質膜,但可以與細胞質膜上的有關受體結合以調節細胞內的有關生命活動。生物膜對化學信號分子有選擇性,為了敘述方便,有時將這些化學信號分子統稱為配體,而專一接收信號分子的物質則稱為受體,受體主要是蛋白質。
