平滑肌纖維呈長梭形，無橫紋。平滑肌受自主神經支配，為不隨 
意肌。該肌收縮緩慢、持久。細胞核一個，呈長橢圓形或桿狀， 
位于中央，收縮時核可扭曲呈螺旋形，核兩端的肌漿較豐富。平 
滑肌纖維大小不一，一般長200μm，直徑8μm；小血管壁平滑肌 
短至20μm，而妊娠子宮平滑肌可長達500μm。平滑肌主要分布于 
血管、氣管、胃、腸等壁內。平滑肌纖維可單獨存在，絕大部分 
是成束或成層分布的。
平滑肌纖維表面為肌膜，肌膜向下凹陷形成數量眾多的小凹 
（caveola）。目前認為這些小凹相當于橫紋肌的橫小管。肌漿網 
發育很差，呈小管狀，位于肌膜下與小凹相鄰近。核兩端的肌漿 
內含有線粒體、高爾基復合體和少量粗面內質網以及較多的游離 
核糖體，偶見脂滴。平滑肌的細胞骨架系統比較發達，主要由密 
斑、密體和中間絲組成。密斑和密體都是電子致密的小體，但分 
布的部位不同。密斑（dense patch）位于肌膜的內面，主要是平 
滑肌細肌絲的附著點。密體（dense
body）位于細胞質內，為梭形小體，排成長鏈，它是細肌絲和中
